Emo or Goth??

So some of my friends think my style turned emo. The other half think I look Goth. So I wear a lot of black, I have red streaks in my hair, I wear black make-up, listen to what my friends say is emo music (Panic! At The Disco, Fall Out Boy, ect.), and my favorite colors happen to be black and red. Its the same with my friend Allison. So answer the question: Am I Goth or Emo?

the answer to me is that you are you and why do have to have a label? there are to many labels in this society! i think if you like red and black and have red streaks in ur hair then that is just what your style is and what you like! so in my opinion it doesnt matter what the other kids label you as...as long as you are happy with how you look and who you are thats all that matters! you dont need a label!!!

Its not how you dress but what you listen to.

In my place Panic at the Disco and Fall Out Boy are the most emo thing ever.

I'm not an expert on that, but you also dress somehow like emo people do in my place.

Emo, is USUALLY, not all the time, but usually when you cut your wrists. Its a sterotype. So is goth, but goth you usually dress in all black with colored hilights in your hair. If you want to be sterotypical, then you'd be "goth". But I wouldn't go by those, because it is also about your personallity. Are you sad or depressed all the time, if not, then you're not one of the sterotypes, you're just you. Hope that helps!

I think that labeling yourself as Goth or Emo is not the best way to go. Im not judging you here, but im just saying that you are you and everyone changes their style or favorite colors or tries different hair colors, so just be you and forget about labels. If your friends have a big problem with the changes you have made then need to move on or take you for you. If you were one of my close friends that is exactly what id tell you. God luck! :)

I think that you are PUNK. Not Emo or Goth. Check out Sublime, Mighty Mighty Bostones, Billy Talent, Green Day, Long Beach Allstars and sheck out "Fat music for Fat People" (compilation disks that have a bunch of punk bands).

You don't have to choose to be one or the other. Punk came before emo or goth and I think that is where the sound and look is derived from.

Just have fun being you, and don't worry about what you are, You are you!

confused. you just need to be yourself. who cares what they think you are. it is about what you think you are. if you spend all your time worrying about what others think, your life will pass you by. you'll be missing all the good things in life for what??? you are young and i know fitting in can be tough but people have more respect for someone who can make up their own mind, you'll see that in due time. when i was in 7-8 grade i was a punk rocker (mind you times have changed in the punk rock world, so things are much different now then it was then) my boyfriend committed suicide but his friends were "more" punk than myself in their minds, but i always though they were gothic so they hated me. my grandmother dies two days later so i could not attend his funeral. when i went to high school i was a total outcast because everyone blamed me for his death. i never lived it down no matter how "punk" i was, they would never accept me, even though he loved me, and his mom was like my adopted mom, and i drove his little brother to school everyday. by 10-11th grade i gained new friends who looked past what was said about me. my new friends and i had so much more fun. we went to shows, parties, snowboarding,skating and always seemed to see the "punks" hanging out at the local bowling alley, how boring!! so moral of the story is, i never would have had so many life experiences had i listened to what everyone thought about me. i am 27 now with two children and a great husband. and punk is the style of music i listen to, not my lifestyle.
